Ross Iosefson serves as the Safety and Occupational Health Manager for the United States Botanic Garden (USBG). He oversees programs that protect the health and safety of employees, visitors, and contractors across the Garden’s diverse facilities and operations. His work directly supports the Architect of the Capitol's Core Value of Safety by anticipating risks, using data to inform decisions, and partnering across teams to strengthen a culture of safety. Ross brings a strong commitment to clear and compelling communication, using storytelling to advocate for the needs of team members, influencing colleagues to prioritize safe practices, and highlighting the USBG’s ongoing focus on safety excellence.

Before joining the USBG, Ross held safety leadership roles at the Library of Congress, including serving as Acting Chief of the Safety Services Division. In that role, he managed an interdisciplinary safety and environmental team, guided agency‑wide safety initiatives, and strengthened systems for incident investigation, hazard abatement, and employee training. He brings more than 15 years of experience in federal service and higher education, with expertise in facilities operations, occupational safety and health, and enterprise risk management.

Ross holds a bachelor’s degree in English education and anthropology from New York University and a master’s degree in higher education administration from Stony Brook University. He is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) credentialed by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP), a Project Management Professional (PMP), and a Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP). In addition to his professional work, Ross volunteers with Girl Scouts of the Nation’s Capital as Co-Leader of his daughter’s troop and financial controller for a service unit comprised of over 30 troops.
