Why do public gardens matter? How do they differ? What do they do? Be sure to see “Celebrating America’s Public Gardens,” two summer-long exhibits at the U.S. Botanic Garden. Intended to celebrate the work and importance of public gardens across America, the two exhibits are broadly representative, engaging, and evocative of the local, regional, and national impact of public gardens. Panels and sculpture in the National Garden tell stories of ways that lives were changed, places and plants were preserved, knowledge was valued, and humans were nurtured. On the Conservatory Terrace, a walk through 12 different garden displays illustrates the diversity of public gardens. Don’t miss it!
