Before you arrive
One adult chaperone is recommended for every six students.
Field Trip Etiquette
We need your help in protecting our living plant museum:
- Every student under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
- We recommend you break into small groups with one adult per six students and that each group start in a different locaiton of the Garden. Adults must stay with their students at all times.
- Please have your students stay on the paths at all times. This is true in our Conservatory and while visiting our outdoor gardens.
- Please stagger your visits to the restrooms to avoid overcrowding.
We have plants from around the world in our collection. We are a living collection. Please remind your students to:
- Enjoy the plants with their eyes and to not touch the plants or objects on display
The U.S. Botanic Garden strives to makes its facilities and programming accessible to all visitors to ensure a successful museum visit. Our Accessibility Page provides more information.
We encourage schools to have their lunch prior to arrival or after your Garden visit, due to having very limited outdoor space and no indoor space for eating.
