This deciduous, fragrant and heat tolerant azalea hybrid was created by Dr. Gene Aromi of Mobile, Alabama, by crossing English Exbury hybrids with our native Flame and Piedmont azaleas. Growing up to 10-12 feet tall, these azaleas bloom from early to mid-May, several weeks after the Asian evergreen azaleas.
