Schedule Change

On Friday, September 19, the U.S. Botanic Garden's outdoor National Garden will close early at 5 p.m. It will reopen for regularly scheduled hours on Saturday, September 20 at 10 a.m.

Blue paloverde, along with ironwood and jojoba, is characteristic of the Sonoran Desert florisitc region and is found from central and southwestern Arizona into southern California and Mexico. This spiny, small tree is leafless during much of the year and its photosyntheis is performed by its small blueish branches and twigs.
