Vanishing Wetlands: Two Views
West Orangerie
January 20 - May 13, 2007

The tragic beauty of Louisiana’s eroding coast and the urgency of restoring coastal wetlands are portrayed through the photographs of C.C. Lockwood and paintings of Rhea Gary, both of Baton Rouge. The exhibition clearly lays out the scientific, social, and political impacts of the environmental loss, lessons so catastrophically revealed in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Organized by the Louisiana State University Museum of Art, this traveling exhibit makes the case that wetlands restoration along our coastlines is not a luxury, but a necessity for the future well-being of our nation.
